| Franklin Twp. Vol. Fire Co. # 1 was started in the early 1970's. We are a non-profit organization located at the foothills of the Pocono Mt. in the beautiful Carbon County. Franklin Twp Fire Co provides fire, medical, rescue, haz-mat assistants to the people of Franklin Twp. We protect 15 sq. miles of land and 4,300 people with 30 miles north and southbound lanes of the Penn. Turnpike. We have 4 main pieces of equipment which are staffed with 20 men and women, in which 4 of them are medical trained First responeder and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). We have a Quick Response Squad(QRS) which are medical trained people that arrive onscenes to assist the patients and the ambulance or the fire co. Our Fire Police help the police with traffic control or to shut down a roadway due to a crash or wires down, and poles. Although every fire company can provide mutual aid the three main co are Lehighton Fire Dept., Mahoning Valley Fire Co., and Parryville Fire Co. We do not have a ambulance in the township that is the purpose of the QRS the ambulance is Lehighton Ambulance which is ALS(Advanced Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support). |
